REXFORD - Viviana G Bianchi passed away peacefully on March 19 after a courageous, 10 year-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Sora Italy on June 8th, 1939, to Restituta and Giuseppe Capobianco, Viviana came to the United States in 1954 and married her beloved husband, Dante Bianchi, in 1961. Though she did not have the opportunity to finish her schooling, Viviana was highly intelligent and was able to teach herself to speak, read and write English fluently.
She was an expert seamstress and was a supervisor in the clothing manufacturing industry for several high-quality designers. She also took great pleasure in sewing bridal gowns for her daughters and daughters in law, as well as many beautiful items for her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
In addition to being an expert seamstress, Viviana was a very talented cook and her house was always filled with the delicious scents of her homemade Italian cuisine. She put her whole heart into everything she created in her kitchen and always made more than she needed, just in case family and friends stopped by- which they inevitably always did. Anyone who visited the Bianchi household, was warmly welcomed with a hug and nurtured with her delicious food. No newly met person ever left the Bianchi home hungry, or a stranger.
Viviana was a woman of deep faith and a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church in Schenectady. She was also a member of Laziali Nel Mondo.
Viviana was a mother to the core, and there is nothing she loved more than spending time with her beloved children: Bruno Bianchi (Angela), Daniela Allen (Ken), Rossana Whatley (Bruce), Marco Bianchi (Dania), and Dino Bianchi (Catina), as well as her 13 grandchildren Marc, Antonio (Mackenzie), Christina (Jeff), Giana, Juliana, Alessandra, Cristiana, Lorenzo, Givanna, Maia, Dante, Michael and Joseph. She also was quick to step in and mother anyone who ever needed it and shared her nurturing heart with her nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends as well.
Viviana was predeceased by her son Remo Bianchi, her brother Giulio Capobianco, and her sisters Santina Capobianco, Vincenza Capobianco, and Assunta Capobianco.
In addition to her beloved children and grandchildren, she is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Dante Bianchi, her sisters Antonetta Capobianco, Concetta Capobianco, and Adele Capobianco, and her nieces, nephews, godchildren, and many wonderful friends.
The family would also like to extend their gratitude to all of Viviana’s neighbors who looked out for her as she navigated the neighborhood during the progression of her illness. A special thanks to Barbara and Ray for their unwavering support, to Ted and Nancy, and Annie and Rocco who went above and beyond in helping to navigate the challenges of her care and provide extra support whenever needed.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 8 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Church at 9 am. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday from 3-7 pm.
