COLONIE – Virginia H. Catalfamo, 96, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024.
Virginia was born and educated in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Fred and Angelina Diana Morrell. She was a 1945 graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School and worked as a nurse in area hospitals for over 30 years. Virginia was an avid fan of her NY Yankees, listening, watching, and cheering them on over the years.
She was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church.
The Catalfamo family wishes to thank personal friend, Joe McElroy, for his support and friendship; and the nursing staff at Shaker Place, especially Yvonne, for the care and support given to their mother.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband Anthony R. Catalfamo and a son Ronald A. Catalfamo.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Joseph) Riitano, Anthony (Sheila) Catalfamo, Lori (Frank, Sr.) Lombardi, Russell Catalfamo, and Lynn Cortella; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was also awaiting the birth of her next great-granddaughter, who will carry Virginia’s name with honor.
Services will be held on Thursday at 10am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, followed by a Mass which will be celebrated at 11 am at St. Luke’s Church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm.
