Vincent Carlino

SCHENCTADY – Vincent Carlino, 85, an icon of Front Street, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Vincent was born in Schenectady on July 25, 1930, a son of the late Dominico and Girlorma Carnvale Carlino, Sr. He honorably served in the US Army from 1947 thru 1953, stationed in Korea. Returning to Schenectady he entered Hudson Valley Technical Institute receiving an AAS in Industrial Electronics and worked for GE in Schenectady. With dedication and alliance to his country Vince reenlisted in the Army, working on the "Hawk" missile system. Vince served a tour in Vietnam and three tours in Germany, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer. He lived in Germany for several years before returning to Schenectady in 1977. Vince went to work for the FAA where he covered the Eastern Region where installing Radar and Navigational systems. He retired on December 31, 2000. Vince was dedicated to his family, friends and his faith, he was a life long communicant of St Anthony's Church. He was predeceased by his sisters, Josephine Bird, Madeline Carlino and Rose DeVito. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karla Huppert Carlino, whom he married on April 12, 1971; loving children, Thomas Huppert, of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Carlino, of Schenectady and Julianna Carlino, of Gansevoort; adoring grandchildren, Mikayla Carlino; Jaden Huppert and Dean Carlino; great-grandson, Marcus Relyea, Jr., devoted siblings, Dominick Carlino, Jr., and his wife Aletta, of Stephentown, Mary Dingman, of Sarasota, FL and Gina Pardi, and her husband Patsy, of Rotterdam; many dear nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street (at N. Jay) and then to St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street where a Mass will be celebrated at 11am. Interment with fully military honors will at 1:30 in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Vincent's memory to the American Diabetes Association Non-Profit Organization, 2 Pine West Plaza, Albany, NY, 12205.
