Vera Zalewski

Town of Duanesburg – Vera Zalewski, 90, passed into eternal life on Monday.
Born June 14, 1924 in Schenectady, she was a daughter of the late Louis Ciccoppi and Eleanor Ambrosini Ciccoppi.
After graduating from Nott Terrace High School in 1943, Vera worked for the General Electric Company as a lab technician for 18 years and for Glenridge Hospital as a medical technician for 20 years. As a young woman, Vera was very active in sports and participated in basketball, softball, and swimming for both the GE Athletic Association and the City League of Schenectady. She was also a speed skater for the North American Winter Carnivals in Schenectady.
Vera was predeceased by her husband, Adam Zalewski, and siblings, Frances Esposito, Guy Ciccoppi, and Rose DiSarro.
She is survived by her nephews and niece, Richard A. DiSarro and his wife, Ann, of Niskayuna; David A. DiSarro and his wife, Susan, of Glenville; Eileen DiSarro, of Schenectady; and Robert DiSarro and his wife, Sheila, of Niskayuna. She is also survived by her cousin, Peter Ambrosini.
A loving and giving aunt, Vera treated her nephews and niece, and grand nephews and nieces, like her own children. She adored her home on Duane Lake and loved working in her garden. In the summertime, she often hosted her family for picnics, where they made many memories at the lake, swimming, fishing, paddle boating, and playing bocce ball. She was also partial to collies, and raised several over the course of her life, treating them all with love and kindness.
Vera was a devoted communicant of the Church of St. Adalbert, donating both time and gifts to the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 am at The Church of St. Adalbert, Lansing Street. Interment will follow next to her beloved husband Adam in St. Adalbert's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at The Church of St. Adalbert on Saturday from 9 am until her Mass.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Vera's honor to her dearly loved Church of St. Adalbert, 550 Lansing St., Schenectady, NY 12303.
