SCHENECTADY – Timothy J. Bates, 50, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness.
Tim was born in Schenectady on April 5, 1961, the son of Patricia A. Clark and the late Thomas F. Bates. He was a 1979 graduate of Linton High School and attended SUNY at Cortland. He honorably served in the US Marine Corps in Okinawa. He had a passion for food and cooking and worked as a chef at Pennell's Restaurant in Saratoga, Villa Valenti in West Sand Lake and most recently at ARAMARK at the General Electric Main Plant. He was a communicant of St. Luke's Church where in his youth he served as an alter boy. Tim was an avid NY Giants and Yankee fan he was kind, he loved to have fun and was devoted to his loving family and friends.
He was predeceased by his father Thomas and a brother Daniel J. Bates.
Tim is survived by his loving mother, Patricia A. Clark, adoring siblings, Joan and James Schults, Kevin and Lynn Bates and Ann Tinger; nephews, Richard Sanders, Daniel Fine and Joshua Moss; and many aunts and uncles.
Services will be held on Monday morning at 8:00 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street, then to St. Luke's Church, State Street, where a mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am. Interment with military honors will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Sunday from 4 to 6 pm.
