Teresa Perreca, 94, of Schenectady, New York passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025.
She was born on December 7, 1930 in Schenectady, NY and was raised in Little Italy on N. Jay Street. The youngest of four children, she is predeceased by her father Salvatore Perreca, mother Carmela, brother Mario, sister Lilia (Dominick) Papa, and niece Kim Mastroianni. She is survived by her sister Clara Caiozzo, nephew Anthony Papa, niece Maria Papa, great nephews Kipling Papa Silveria, Anthony and Nicholas Papa, great niece Carla Mastroianni Bhatia and many loving cousins and friends.
Teresa graduated from Nott Terrace High School and began working at New York Telephone Company. In later years, she was revered for her work at the main branch of Schenectady Public Library.
She was a devout Catholic, attending daily Mass for the greater part of her life. Her unwavering faith not only guided her, but inspired those close by. Teresa was known for her warm spirit, caring nature, and generosity. Her encyclopedic knowledge of the Perreca family history became the cornerstone of her extended family's shared memories, traditions, and sense of identity. She loved her family dearly, especially the children. She enjoyed their company and baby sat on a regular basis up until her 90’s. Her legacy of kindness and faith will live on through the many lives she touched.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place, on Tuesday, August 12th at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Avenue.
