SCHENECTADY—Serena DeLuke, 89, entered into the arms of the Lord on Thursday.
Serena was born in Schenectady, the first twin daughter of Anthony and Rose Marie Bucci Della Penta. She was a 1940 graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School and then went on to work for the Schenectady school system for 18 years in the Brandywine Avenue office. Serena was a member of the Northside Seniors and was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Serena was a loving and gentle sister, aunt and friend.
Serena was predeceased by her siblings, Mary DiNicola, Thomas Della Penta, Amelia Leva, Lucy Thompson and Louis Della Penta and her brothers-in-law, Paul Pier, Harry Leva and Augustine Thompson
Survivors include her twin sister, Angelina Pier of Schenectady; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Serena's family would like to extend our heart-felt thanks and appreciation to the Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center's staff and especially to the staff of the former 5th floor and now the 2nd floor for their special care and attention given to Serena over the past six years
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning, at 10:30 AM, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Road. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Road, this morning from 9 to 10 AM.
