ROTTERDAM – Sandy Montone Donovan, 69, entered into eternal rest after a long illness on Sunday at Ellis Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born in Schenectady on September 28, 1947 a daughter of the late Frank and Vera Montone. She graduated from Linton High School, class of 1965, beginning work as a medical transcriptionist at Ellis Hospital. For many years, Sandy dedicated herself not only to her family, but also to the Ciccarelli family, as nanny for Danny, Luke, Mark and John. In later years, Sandy worked for Rodriguez Enterprises and in the Electronic Department at Walmart on Altamont Avenue. Her love, compassion, kindness and generosity touched the lives of so many. She was a faithful supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital, St. Joseph's Indian School and the American Cancer Society.
Sandy is survived by her beloved husband John E. Donovan, Jr., whom she wed on January 27, 1973; loving children, Shannon (Patrick) Murphy, of Rotterdam, Sean (Colleen) Donovan, of Rotterdam and Jamie (Billy) Bolton, of Glenville; she was Nonny to her precious granddaughters, Isabella and Kalli Murphy; sister to Franny Steele, of Burnt Hills and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday at 10 am at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St., with Fr. Jim Belogi, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm.
