Rose L. Stella

SCHENECTADY – Rose L. Stella, 92, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015.
Rose was born on July 21, 1923 in New Haven, CT, a daughter of the late Antonio and Fannie Civitello Tascillo. Locating to Schenectady at the age of 5, Rose was educated locally. She graduated as Vice President of her senior class from Schenectady Votek, class of 1941, majoring in dressmaking. During WWII she supported the war effort, by taking employment at the General Electric and the Navy Depot in Scotia. Rose cherished her family, friends and her faith. She spent many wonderful summers on Sacandaga Lake, enjoying the outdoors. She loved gardening and cooking. Rose was a former member of the South Schenectady Fire Department Auxiliary and a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace.
Rose's family is sincerely grateful to the staff at Kingsway Arms Nursing Facility for their kindness, care, compassion and the dignity given to Rose throughout her stay with them.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond Stella whom she married on June 2, 1946 and he died on November 1, 2002; a brother, Matthew Tascillo who was killed in Eniwetok, during WWII ; a sister Faye Stella; brothers-in-law Edward Stella and William Stella.
Surviving are her loving son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Lorraine Stella, of Ballston Lake; her adoring grandchildren, Richard Stella, of Guilderland and Amanda Schneider and her husband Shawn, of King George, VA; and a sister-in-law, Ann Stella. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Private services will be held.
