Rose DiSarro, 95, entered into eternal rest on Monday, surrounded by her family at Ellis Hospital.
Rose was born August 17, 1915 in Schenectady, a daughter of the late Louis Ciccoppi and Eleanor Ambrosini Ciccoppi. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and worked, as many women at the time did, to aid the WWII effort for the General Electric Company. As a young woman, Rose played basketball for both the GE Athletic Association and the City League of Schenectady as a member of the Spartan’s. Later, she was a member of the Cornelia Lodge of the Sons of Italy, the Northside Senior Center, and was also a dedicated communicant of St. Anthony’s church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alvino DiSarro, and siblings, Frances Esposito and Guy Ciccoppi.
A loving and caring homemaker to her husband and children, Rose enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and, in particular, spending time with her family. She also liked traveling, and traveled the world with her husband, Alvino.
She is survived by her beloved children, Richard A. DiSarro and his wife, Ann, of Niskayuna; David A. DiSarro and his wife, Susan, of Niskayuna; Eileen DiSarro of Schenectady; and Robert DiSarro and his wife, Sheila, of Niskayuna. She is also survived by her sister, Vera Zalewski of Duanesburg, eleven adoring grandchildren, seven loving great-grandchildren, and a cousin, Peter Ambrosini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 am at St. Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place. Internment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at St. Anthony’s Church, Thursday morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s memory to St. Anthony’s Church, the Northeastern Association for the Blind , 301 Washington Ave, Albany, 12206, or a charity of one’s choice.
