CLIFTON PARK – Robert M. Pidgeon, 60, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 19, at his home after a brief illness with his wife at his side.
Bob was born on February 27, 1952 in Schenectady, a son of Carmela (Iorio) Pidgeon and the late Anthony Pidgeon. He was a 1970 graduate of Draper High School and received a Bachelor's degree from Empire State College.
He started his long and distinguished career of almost 40 years with General Electric graduating from their Apprentice Program; he was a master machinist by trade. He transferred to Allentown, PA as Sales Engineer for the Allentown Service Shop; relocated to Canton, OH, as manager of the magnet Service Shop, returning to the main GE plant in Schenectady as manager of the Training Center. Bob continued advancing within GE, becoming manager of El Paso, TX and Juarez, Mexico, Coil Operation Plants. Bob returned to Schenectady managing the Tool Center in Rotterdam and he retired on April 2nd as Facilities Manager of Global Research Center in Niskayuna.
Bob was a loving husband and father who always put his family first. He was a man of deep faith and commitment and a communicant of Corpus Christi Parish in Ushers. Although Bob had a short life it was very fulfilling and his opportunities and blessings exceeded his wildest dreams. He will long be remembered by his family and friends for his caring and generous nature, quick wit, and dedication.
He was a member of ELFUN Society; Northeast Parent and Child Society; and a former member of South Schenectady Fire Department. He was an avid NY Jets fan all his life and enjoyed fishing on his boat at Saratoga Lake.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife Kathleen (Reagan) Pidgeon whom he married December 2, 1972; the light of his life their daughter, Jessica Pidgeon of Clifton Park; his loving mother Carmela (Iorio) Pidgeon, his big brother Peter Pidgeon; his in-laws, Robert and Laurette Reagan, of Rotterdam. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed and Judy Webster; Ben and Sandy Massaro; Rob Reagan; Rich and Nancy Valletta; Tony and Lisa Karbowski; Joe and Teri Reagan; Rob and Barb Lawrence; an uncle, Joseph Pidgeon; an aunt, Mary "Sponzi" Pidgeon; an aunt and uncle Antoinette and Hank Peck; a devoted cousin, Kathy and John LaPointe; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special associates at GE.
He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Buster and Chloe, who were by his side daily.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11am from Corpus Christi Church, Route 9, Ushers. Private Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, Schenectady, on Monday evening from 4 to 8 pm.
