Richard M. 'Rich' Welch

NISKAYUNA – Richard M. Welch, 82, entered into eternal rest on Thursday,
April 14, 2022.
Rich was born in Cohoes, a son of Merle and Blanche Theroux Welch. He
honorably served his County in the US Air Force. He earned his degree in
engineering at Hudson Valley Tech. Institute, and worked as a field engineer for NCR in Colonie for 38 years. He enjoyed the beauty of the Adirondacks,
camping, fishing, and old movies. There wasn’t a dessert made that Rich would not thoroughly enjoy. Rich was known as a chatterbox; he treasured his faith, his family, and the times they spent together.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Adelaide (Addy) Marotta
Welch, whom he met in 1982, loving children, Jennifer (Matthew) Jenkins,
Cliff (Danielle) Wood and Kevin (Jill) Welch; grandchildren, Beth, Erin,
Madeleine, Ava, Juliet, and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Marge
Stockwell, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernie (Nancy) Marotta and Marie
(Tony) Brock; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Hospice nurses, volunteers, and Chaplain
who took great care of Rich in his final weeks. Also thanks to Cindy Mortka
and Fran and Dave Rakvica who were on hand to help with Rich whenever
needed.
Services will be held at 4 pm on Thursday at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501Union St.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro
Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rich’s memory to Hospice or
American Cancer Society.
