Raffaele "Ralph" Capoccia

NISKAYUNA – Raffaele "Ralph" Capoccia, 92, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
Ralph was born in Fontechiari, province of Frosinone, Italy on February 7, 1923 a son of the late Antonio and Filomena Bianchi Capoccia. He worked his mastery as a mason, in his hometown and surrounding areas. He served as past commander with the Associazione Ex Combattenti Italiana. Ralph immigrated to the United States, to join family on September 8, 1954. Ralph was employed by NYS Office of General Services and also worked for Beltrone Construction Company in Latham for many years. Ralph possessed strong work ethics, honored his Italian heritage and was a kindhearted and devoted family man. He was a faithful communicant of St. Anthony's Church, a weekly usher, annual festa worker and a member of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Laziale Nel Mondo Society.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Italia Maria DiCarlo Capoccia, whom he married on May 26, 1949; his loving daughters, Silvana Shaughnessy and her husband Jerry, Rossana Rawlins and her companion Robert Howe, all of Clifton Park and Antonietta Tarte and her husband Gregory, of Rexford; loving sister, Angela Bianchi and her husband Giuseppe, of Schenectady; adoring grandchildren, Raina and Daniel Munafo, Scott Shaughnessy, Rob Rawlins and Megan, Amanda and Stefanie Traynor; great grandchildren, Matthew and Gabriella Munafo; his devoted brothers and sisters-in-law, Angela Capoccia and the late Giustino Capoccia , Luigina and Giuseppe Di Legge, Costanza Zurlo and the late John Zurlo, Ersilia DiCarlo and the late Guido DiCarlo, the late Rosa and Gaetano Ferrera, Domenico DiCarlo and Augusto DiCarlo. Several nieces, nephews and godchildren also survive.
Services will be held on Thursday at 8 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street (at N. Jay) and then to St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street, where a Mass will be con-celebrated at 9am. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ralph's honor to St. Anthony's Church Restoration Fund, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY 12305.
