SCHENECTADY – Priscilla L. Oakley, 81, beloved, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024, with her loving husband at her side.
Priscilla was born in Grand Gorge, NY, the daughter of the late Clinton and Madeline Helljas Stone. She was educated in Stanford, NY. Priscilla moved to Schenectady in 1968 and began a long career in the Dry Cleaning Business, first with Kem Cleaners in Scotia and then with Dambrose Cleaners on Van Vranken Avenue, where for many years, she would greet every customer with her kindness and precious smile. She later worked as a bus monitor with the Brown Bus Company, retiring after 19 years. Her dedication to her work in the dry cleaning business and as a bus monitor reflects her strong work ethic and commitment to serving others.
Priscilla lived a rich and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of many with her warmth and kindness. She was a beautiful woman who approached life with such generosity, always prioritizing the needs of those around her, before her own.
In her leisure time, Priscilla would unwind and enjoy her visits to the Bingo Halls; the casino; and filling her heart with county music, particularly Ricky Skaggs. In addition to her parents, Priscilla was predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth (Virgil) Oakley, Clinton Stone, Jr. and Joyce Orlowski.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted and loving family; her husband of 53 years, Frank A. Oakley; children, Arnold W. “Arnie” Callahan, Patricia ‘Patty” Callahan, John L. Callahan, Michael (Karen) Oakley, Christopher R. (Jeannie) Oakley; sister, Nancy (Paul) Barnes, brother-in-law, Fred Orlowski; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews.
Priscilla will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. May her memory bring comfort and solace to all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
