SCHENECTADY – Patsy Tremante, Sr. 58, now rests eternally with his Heavenly Father and beloved father Silvio. Patsy died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends after being stricken on June 5, 2013.
Patsy was born in Schenectady, on December 9, 1954, an only son of Barbara Garcia Tremante and the late Silvio 'Sonny' Tremante. He attended local Catholic elementary schools and was a 1973 graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School where he excelled in the sports of baseball and football under the coaching of Johnny Verra. Patsy started his long and dedicated career with the City of Schenectady on July 15, 1974 and retiring thirty-six years later on January 31, 2010. He was a natural born athlete participating in many sports throughout his youth and into his adulthood. He played on the 1982 National Championship softball team in Spokane, WA. Continuing his passion of sports he was proud to coach his children in softball, football, and baseball. He mentored and coached many youths at Schalmont High School, Pop Warner Football and Northside Little League. He embraced the game of golf with his buddies always seeking a lower score.
In addition to his loving mother, Patsy is survived by his beloved bride Patti Breyo Tremante, who were united in marriage November 7, 1992; his loving and devoted children Christina Tremante-Pelham and his son-in-law Michael Pelham of Rotterdam, Alexandria Tremante and Patrick A. Tremante Jr. both of Schenectady; a great-aunt Sue Morrette and her children Toni-Jean Vitek and Rev. Father Tom Morrette; his cherished extended family, Anne Lepri, Harry and Nancy Buffardi, Ernie and Penny Incitti, and Kevin Epperson; many cousins, brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The Tremante family expresses their sincere gratitude to the first responders, Schenectady Police Department, Doctor Yousuf and Ellis ICU-E2 nurses for their compassion and professionalism. A special thank you to the Schenectady Fire Department, a brotherhood, that has faithfully kept our family as part of theirs.
Services will be held Tuesday morning at 10AM from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 11AM. Interment in the Tremante family plot will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
