SCOTIA – Olga H. Mulyca, 96, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness.
Olga was born in Manhattan on September 19, 1920, the daughter of the late Frank and Ahafia Suszczyk Wojewoda. Locating to Berne with her family, Olga graduated from Knox High School, class of 1938. Olga like many women aided the war effort, working for the General Electric Company, before starting her 25 year long career in nursing at Ellis Hospital, retiring in 1983. Olga was kind, gentle and devoted her loving family. Olga loved to travel, she visited France, Denmark, Sweden, Northern Italy, Poland, Spain, Canada, Florida Keys, California and Arizona, which was her favorite state. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, quilting and cruel work, and was communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank B. Mulyca, whom she married on June 2, 1946; loving children, James Mulyca and Janet Murray; siblings, Julia Litts, Felix Wojewoda and Frances Ryan.
Olga is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Margaret "Margie" Giaminelli and her husband Rick, of Glenville, cherished grandchildren, Dr. Kimberly Maxwell, and her companion Will Kreth, Wesley Giaminelli and Tanya Giaminelli; son-in-law, Dr. Neil Murray; great-grandson, Sage Kreth several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday at 8 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St., and then to St. Luke's Church, State St., where a Mass will be celebrated at 9am. Interment will follow in Memory's Garden.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 7 pm.
