NISKAYUNA – Olga Carboni, 92, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.
Olga was born in Schenectady on June 18, 1929, a daughter of the late Angelo and Rosa Gabriel Carboni. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School and Mildred Elley.
Upon completion of her education, Olga began her career at the General Electric Company. She was employed as an executive secretary, working diligently alongside her colleagues, managing her department’s daily affairs. She retired in 1991. Olga was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony’s Church; she served in many capacities, including the Parish Council; Finance Committee; School Advisory Board and many years as an annual Festa worker. When something was needed at St. Anthony’s they just called on the Carboni Girls. She was a faith-filled woman, devoted to her family. Olga and her sisters maintained a strong and loving relationship within their family. Their nieces and nephews would often say they were fortunate enough to have five additional mothers to love and support them throughout their lives. Her memories will be treasured and shared for generations to come.
In addition to her parents, Angelo and Rose Carboni, Olga was predeceased by her sisters, Antoinette, Emma, Mary and Amelia “Mimi” Carboni; brothers-in-law, Ricardo Benacquista and Nicholas Sorrentino; and her nephew, Ralph Sorrentino.
She is survived by her devoted sisters, Dorothy Sorrentino, of Niskayuna and Roselyn Benacquista, of Guilderland; nephews, Mark (Denise) Sorrentino, Gregory (Sherry) Sorrentino, Gary (Tiffany) Benacquista; nieces, Lisa (David) Dobkowski, Kathy (John) Kaminsky, and Linda (Robert) Blake; many great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 am at St. Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at St. Anthony’s Church on Saturday from 10 to 11 am.
Memorial contributions may be made in Olga’s memory to St. Anthony’s Church Restoration Fund.
