Norman Roy Johnson

October 17, 1933 — November 21, 2012

SCOTIA –Norman Roy Johnson, 79, entered into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, November 21st at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends.
Norman was born in Lake Placid on October 17, 1933, a twin son of the late Jesse Roy and Agnes Peck Johnson. He was raised and educated in Schenectady. Norman enlisted in the US Air Force at the age of 19 and served ten years as a Crew Chief on B47 Bombers, in North Africa and England, being honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant. He was awarded the Air Force Longevity Service Award, National Defense Service Award and the Good Conduct Medal. Norman was employed by the General Electric Company retiring after 32 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Rotterdam Elks and the VFW Post #1895. For the past four years he also enjoyed working for Brown Transportation as a bus monitor.
Norman enjoyed going to the mall for his coffee clutch and Casinos with friends, especially his best friend Ray Trifilo. He loved spending time with his family every weekend and holidays. He especially adored his twin brother Nelson Johnson and his family. He was close to all his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Anna L. Caiazzo; loving daughters, Theresa (Johnson) Guthinger and her husband Patrick, and Diana (Johnson) Lindsay, all of Glenville; adoring grandchildren, Brandon Guthinger, and his wife Misty, Shea Guthinger and Kyle Lindsay; great grandchildren, Anthony and Brianna; siblings, twin brother, Nelson Johnson and his wife Mary, of Niskayuna, Ellen Hovey of MA and Eunice Messina, of FL.
Anna and her family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Marra, Dr. Rockwell and the compassionate nurses and aides at Ellis Hospital.
Services will be held Tuesday at 8am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, and then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place where a mass will be celebrated at 9am with Fr. Dominic Isopo officiating. Burial will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 7 pm.
