Nicholas S. Sorrentino

NISKAYUNA – Nicholas S. Sorrentino, 81, entered into eternal rest on Friday after a long illness.
Nicholas was born May 28, 1930, a son of the late Ralph and Jennie Russo Sorrentino. He was a 1949 graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School. Nick honorably served his Country in the US Navy aboard the USS Newport News. He worked and retired from the General Electric, gas turbine division. He enjoyed golfing and was a lifetime communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of the Holy Name Society; a member of the Colonie Elks; Knights of Columbus; GE Quarter Century Club and a board member of the GEAA Athletic Club. Nicholas was a man of devotion to his family striving to honor, support and love.
Nick was predeceased by his sister's Sarah Daddario and Clara Cartwright and a grandson Nicholas Sorrentino.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Dorothy Carboni Sorrentino whom he married September 10, 1960; devoted sons, Ralph Sorrentino and his wife Suzanne, of Schenectady, Mark Sorrentino and his wife Denise, of Duanesburg and Gregory Sorrentino and his wife Sherry, of Guilderland; adoring grandchildren, Tristan, Matthew, Angela, Brian, Sarah, Gina and Vincent Sorrentino; siblings, Frances Maioriello and Frank Sorrentino; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday morning at 9 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street, then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 10AM. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Sunday from 4 to 7 pm.
