Obituary – Nancy Lecce

LECCE, NANCY, 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15. Born in 1927, Nancy was the beloved daughter of Rosa and Guiseppe Pironi of Schenectady. Upon her parents’ deaths when she was 13 years old, Nancy and her siblings were cared for by Helen and Carmel Lauracella.

Nancy was the loving wife of Joseph Lecce (deceased), and sister of Paul and Lena Pironi (deceased). Nancy was predeceased by her son, Joel Lecce. She is survived by her daughter, Lou Carol Lecce (Jane Grimes), a nephew Paul Pironi (Page Morrison) of Arizona, and other nephews.

Nancy was a great Italian cook, hosting many family gatherings and holiday dinners. Nancy also was an avid gardener and was meticulous about her gardens and her home. Nancy could be seen mowing her lawn or shoveling snow at 98 years old.

She cherished the house she and her husband Joe built together side-by-side. It is fitting that it was there that she took her last breath.

We would like to thank the medical staff on the 5th floor of Ellis Hospital and the staff of Community Hospice for providing care and comfort to Nancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for all to attend at 11am on Friday, April 24th at St. Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place. Interment will follow at Saint Anthony’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 9:30 -11 am on Friday, April 24th at St. Anthony’s Church.
