MALTA – Michael R. Van Buren, Jr., 25, recently of Schenectady, was called Home to his Lord on Sunday, June 29, 2014, after suffering injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Michael was born in Schenectady on April 1, 1989, the beloved son of Tami L. Van Buren Myers Van Buren and Michael R. Van Buren, Sr. He was a 2007 graduate of Schenectady High School and received an AAS degree in Criminal Justice from SCCC. Michael started his successful career in the automobile industry during high school, working for Northway Toyota, in Latham, doing detail work. He advanced within the company, and began working in the car rental division. He transferred as a Rental Car Manager to Charlotte NC, returning to Schenectady in September 2012. He was most recently employed at Carbone Subaru, in Troy, excelling in Auto Sales, receiving many company awards for service.
Michael had an inherited athletic ability. He played in Northside Little League, Belmont Bop Warner and Saturday Jr. Bowling League at Boulevard Bowl, having competitive spirit in each sport. He was an avid enthusiast for the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Braves, with an uncanny ability to quote stats of each team. Michael was a young successful man with dreams, goals and an everlasting love of his family.
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Lois Van Buren, his grandfather "Pa: Charles D. Myers, Sr. and his uncle, Randy V. Myers.
Left to cherish his loving memory are his; loving father, Michael Van Buren, Sr., of Schenectady; devoted mother, Tami Van Buren Myers, of Niskayuna; beloved sister and best friend, Leah Van Buren; grandmother, "Mama" Gere H. Brostrand and grandfather "Pa" Walter S. Van Buren, Sr.; aunts and uncles, Tina and Ron Zielinski, Charles "Charlie" D. Myers, Jr. and Jane; Douglas S. and Candace Myers; (God-Parents) Walter and Christine Van Buren and Kim Turner; cousins, Ryan, Jason, Shane, Annabelle, Jake, Schulyer and Kylie and a great-cousin Haylie. Many dear friends, piers and associates also survive.
Services will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 pm at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3 to 7 pm.
