GLENVILLE - Michael Louis Riccio, 56, of Glenville, passed away on January 23rd surrounded by his family.
He was born in Schenectady, on May 1, 1955, a son of Anthony and Ann Bunk Riccio. Michael graduated from Linton High School and received a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Siena College. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hiking, skiing, and sailing in the Carolinas.
He is survived by his daughter Andrea Riccio of Washington, DC; his parents, Anthony and Ann Riccio of Glenville, his sister Patricia DeCesare and her husband Don, of St. Augustine, FL; his aunt, Josephine Riccio, of Schenectady, his niece Meribeth Gilbert and her husband Kyle of Birmingham, AL; and his nephew John DeCesare and his wife Nicole of Port Arthur, TX; as well as three great nieces, Ansley, Vivian, and Margaret Gilbert of Birmingham, AL; his former wife Cathy Gruyters and her husband Sean Albert, of Schenectady.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Pathways Rehabilitation Center, Baptist Health, Ellis ICU and Dr. Ian Cole from Albany Medical Center for their support during Michael's illness.
Services will be held on Friday at 10am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery, Rotterdam.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 8 pm.
