SCHENECTADY – Mary L." Marie" Pallante, 101, of Bradford St., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday at home with her daughter by her side.
Born in Schenectady on November 30, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Alfonso and Josephine Monzo Varriale. Mary was educated in Schenectady Schools. She worked throughout the years as a waitress at Carl Co., a housemother caretaker for Schenectady families and later as an Assistant manager/ buyer for W.T. Grant. Mary devoted herself to her family, teaching them her hard work ethics and strong willed determination. In later years, she would make each grandchild a birthday cake, worthy of a king, she loved to knit and crochet and always gifted her homemade treasures to family and friends. She was a devout communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Arthur Pallante, who died in 2006, her son, Henry Pallante and her siblings Patsy Varriale, Albert Varriale, Margaret Pacelli, Jennie Gresham, Yolanda Cascini and Eleanor Matevia
Survivors include her devoted daughter, Phyllis A. Frederick, of Schenectady, her loving grandsons, Michael and his wife Kathie Frederick, Daniel and his wife Kim Frederick and Richard and his companion Carla France; her son in law, Clarence "Bud" Frederick, her great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael, Hanna, Jessica, Cassandra, Maria and Rachael and her sister Helen Varriale, who visited each Sunday, sharing her time and love with her sister, and her brother, John Varriale and his wife Dolores; several nieces , nephews and cousins.
To the four angels sent to mom and I; Sue Wuest, of Schenectady County Senior and Long Term Care, Jennifer Hoyt, of VNA, my cousin Helene Kirkham and Sandy Baxter, my dear friend, THANK YOU, for your knowledge, love and support for which without I would not have been able to assist mom in her final journey home to the Lord. Special thanks to Sr. Maria Rosa, my dear neighbors, Bruce and Roger, Sandy and the many other wonder aids sent by Living Resources, Dr. Gupta and staff and St. Joseph's Church ministry for the love and care throughout mom's life.
A Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church, 331 Seward Place on Monday at 11 am. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at St. Anthony's Church on Monday from 9am until the Mass.
