SCHENECTADY – Marlene E. Allen, 89, a woman of devout faith, and matriarch, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at home surrounded by those who she so dearly loved.
Marlene was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Antonio and Martella Esposito Tommasone. She was a 1954 graduate of Nott Terrace High School. Marlene married her beloved Richard Allen on Christmas Day, 1955, a testament to her belief in the beauty of family and tradition. She dedicated her early years to raising a loving family, nurturing the foundation and strength in her beautiful daughters. She seamlessly transitioned into the workforce, when her daughters were grown, and was employed as a secretary for the Schenectady City School District. Marlene was an unwavering support and guidance in her daughters’ lives, her love and nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, whom she guided with the same devotion and care she gave as a mother. Her love will span generations, leaving a legacy of compassion and strength that will always continue to inspire.
Marlene’s family is grateful to the women who took amazing care of their mom and grandmother, Sharon, Robyn, Denise and Linda, thanks you for your compassion and empathy.
Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Richard, her loving daughter, Donna DiCocco; and siblings, Carmella Damiano, Mary Corvino, Rose Sarruto, Jennie Grecco , John Thomas and Alexander Thomas.
She is survived by her loving and devoted family, a daughter, Robin Ann Gould; grandchildren, Tabitha Rose Zoller, Vincent DiCocco, Michael Richard DiCocco, and his wife, Grace Irene Tatara DiCocco; great-grandson, Shea Mercedes; a brother, Tony (Ginger) Thomas, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 12 noon at the Ross & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home from 10 am until the Service.
