ROTTERDAM- Mario P. Scardino, Sr., 86, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 3, 2011.
Mario was born in Schenectady, a son of the late Carmelo and Pasqualina DiBella Scardino. He attended Nott Terrace High School where he played basketball, graduating with the class of 1944. Mario was a finish carpenter, a master of his trade. He built many homes throughout the capital region. Mario received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1986. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Rexford. Mario was a man of faith and honor and he enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family. They often looked to him for his wisdom and advice. He played the accordion when he was younger and had a passion for music. Mario loved working in his garden.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Amelia Ciarmiello Scardino; his loving children, Mario Scardino, Jr. and his wife Debra, of Duanesburg, Mark Scardino, of Clifton Park, Michael Scardino and his wife Joann, of Bonita Springs, FL and MaryJo Sullivan and her husband Mark, of Niskayuna; adoring grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer, Vicky Jo, Christopher and Rachel; great grandchildren, Joshua and Michael; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 9AM from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street and then to Faith Baptist Church, 11 Glenridge Road, Rexford where a service will be held at 10AM. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
