GLENVILLE– Marie A. Giuffre DeCiero, 82, died Sunday morning at Baptist Health in Scotia, surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born in Brooklyn, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine Peconie Giuffre. She moved to Amsterdam when she was 6 years old and then relocated to Gloversville when she married. She was a 1946 graduate of the Wilbur Lynch High School and then worked for S & G Cramer wholesale in Amsterdam as a bookkeeper; a secretary for Judge Felix Aulisi and attorney H. Andrew Schulsberg, Fulton County District Attorney. In 1977, Marie and her family moved to Scotia, where she lived as a homemaker caring for her husband and children. Marie was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Scotia and a member of its Rosary Society. She was a member of the Sons of Italy and Jolly Do’ers, a support club for the visually impaired at Rotterdam Seniors.
Marie is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, John E. DeCiero of Glenville; loving children, John M. DeCiero and his wife Diane of Glenville, Joseph DeCiero of Duanesburg, Jean Williams and her husband Michael of Georgetown, TX and Michael DeCiero and his wife Kim Elliott of Rotterdam; also survived by 6 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 9 AM from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, then to St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM. Entombment to follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s memory to Sons of Italy Scholarship Fund, 2984 Hamburg St., Schenectady, NY 12303.
