SCHENECTADY – Maria Galofaro, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on May 3, 1935, in Fondachelli, Sicily, she was the cherished daughter of Giuseppe and Santa Paratore.
In 1955, Maria immigrated to America with her parents, settling in Schenectady. On February 19, 1960, she married the love of her life, Angelo Galofaro, and together they built a home filled with love, warmth, and family.
Maria’s career reflected her dedication and passion. She worked at Mother Ferro's Restaurant and Ellis Hospital before realizing her lifelong dream. As a master seamstress, she brought her exceptional skill and creativity to Angela’s Bridal, where she worked for 20 years, helping countless brides and their families feel beautiful on their special day.
Maria was a people person through and through. Her kindness, gentle soul, and warm smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her greatest joys were her family and the time she spent with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her love and generosity knew no bounds, and she will be remembered as a beacon of love and grace.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Angelo, Maria was predeceased by her brother, Judge Antonino Paratore, ESQ.
Maria is survived by her children, Giuseppe (Maureen) Galofaro, Santina (Sam) Roberts and Angela (John Cerone) Galofaro; grandchildren, Marina, Nicole, Diana, Angelo, Christopher, Kayla, Gianna, John, Nicholas, Madeline, Mitchell and Alyse; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in Sicily.
Relatives and friends are invited to join Maria’s family on Friday, at 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Maria will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her unwavering love, her gentle spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her.
