Lucy Mangano Dilorenzo

SCHENECTADY- Lucy Mangano DiLorenzo, 88, entered into eternal rest Thursday at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness.
Lucy was born in Schenectady, a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Mangano. She was a 1941 graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School and worked in the bookkeeping department at the General Electric Company for many years. Lucy was united in marriage on July 6, 1947 to Patrick J. DiLorenzo. She was a loving and caring wife and mother of two children, staying home to care for them. In later years, Lucy returned to work in the accounts payable department at Ellis Hospital, retiring after 25 plus years of dedicated service. Lucy was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony's Church, the Sacred Heart League and volunteered many years at the annual Festa and St. Anthony's School, reading to and caring for the students. She was active in the Ellis Hospital Retirees and the Nott Terrace Alumni Association.
Lucy was predeceased by her beloved husband Patrick on October 14, 1978; an infant son John DiLorenzo; a brother Guy "Kit" Mangano and a sister Mary Andreine.
She is survived by her devoted children, Patricia DiLorenzo Cagle and her husband Stephen, of Kannapolis, NC and Anthony J. DiLorenzo, and his wife Nancy, of Scotia; brothers, Samuel P. Mangano, of Colonie and Joseph Mangano, Jr. and his wife Marlyn, of Rotterdam, loving grandchildren, Erin Rose DiLorenzo, of Scotia and Samantha Jade DiLorenzo, of Birmingham, AL; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and her beloved niece and dear friend Marylou Massaroni.
Service will be held Monday at 8 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street and then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Avenue.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home Sunday from 4 to 6 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lucy's memory to St. Anthony's Church Memorial Fund.
