Louise G. Marconi

February 12, 1923 — April 14, 2016

SCHENECTADY - Louise (Luigia) Genevieve (Conti), Marconi 93, passed peacefully in her home of 65 years on April 14, 2016 surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Louise was born in Schenectady NY on February 12, 1923, the daughter of the late Angelo and Anna (Longe) Conti.
Louise was educated in the Schenectady Schools and was a 1944 graduate of the Ellis School of Nursing. She was an admired and respected nurse during her career at Ellis Hospital. During her career as an RN, she also devoted her life to raising her family and caring for many family members.
A communicant of St Anthony's Church, she was a member of the Sacred Heart League. Up until February of this year, she was an active member of Sister Maria Rosa's "Kitchen Crew" baking pizzelle and pepper cookies for bake sales, as well as making and serving cannoli at the St. Anthony's Festa.
Louise enjoyed her daily Gazette crossword puzzle, quickly completing them each day and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees.
Over the years she kept in touch with her Nursing School and High graduates attending frequent lunches and often reminisced of the good times they spent together "back in the day".
Louise was always ready for a "spirited" conversation and enjoyed the large family gatherings for holidays and special occasions "like things were in the old days". She was an independent lady kept things simple and always in control of all things around her. Everything needed to be "just right".

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, William J. Marconi as well as her sisters Florence (Drouin) and Eleanor (Marotta). She was also pre-deceased by many immediate and extended family members as well as several dear friends.
Survivors include her sons David (Linda) Marconi and Anthony (Judith) Marconi, and her daughter Nancy (Zoe) DeNofio. She was also blessed with five Grandchildren, Lucia (Dana) Brown, Joseph Marconi, Danielle Marconi, Patrick Marconi and Dominick DeNofio and three Great grandchildren, Owen, Lily and Adam Brown. Louise was also survived by her friend and niece Judith Creasy, as well as many other nieces, nephews, great grandnieces and nephews and a great-great niece and nephew.
The family would also like to extend special thanks to the members of Schenectady Hospice and Lydia Sawyer for their extraordinary care of Mom over the past several months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 18th at St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place at 12 noon. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Chapel at St. Anthony's Church on Monday, April 18th from 10 am until the Mass is celebrated.
Members of the St. Anthony's Bereavement Committee, Sacred Heart League and the "Kitchen Crew" will meet at 11:15 in the Chapel for a service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Louise's name to the St. Anthony's Restoration Fund or Schenectady Hospice.
