SCHENECTADY – Louise L. Buonome, 81 entered into eternal rest on Thursday at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Louise was born on March 12, 1931, a daughter of the late Constantine and Santina Cashera Rotundo. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. Louise worked for the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, retiring after 25 years of devoted service from the General Electric Company as a data entry clerk.
A native daughter of Schenectady where she made her loving home, Louise faithfully cared for her family and friends through her delicious Italian cooking, meticulously clean home and passing along her treasured family recipes she learned from her parents. She had a profound affection and love for her family/friends, memories cultivated around her dinner table, music, TV shows such as Monk and Wheel of Fortune, and outings with her family. Louise was generous not only in spirit but in action. A generosity that was extended to family and friends she took into her home to live throughout her life. Even being called a Guardian Angel by those she took in over the years. One of her favorite past time was to share a good story, especially recounting her early adulthood years where she spent time at the PNA Hall as a young woman dancing the jitterbug.
Her family will always remember her as a courageous lady, devoted wife, adoring grandmother and energetic great-grandmother. Louise contagious smile and her entertaining sense of humor had the uncanny ability to light up a room. Many family-gatherings stories revolve around Louise's gift of wit and her words of wisdom to her friends and family. She gave us courage and hope in her final days and reminded us of the preciousness of life.
Louise was predeceased by her beloved husband Ralph Buonome whom she married January 2, 1954 until his death January 15, 2010.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her; loving children, Janice Fellner and her husband Bill, of Scotia, and Ralph Buonome and his wife Michelle, of Rotterdam; grandchildren, Jason LaFond, Paul LaFond and Ashley DiBelasio; great-grandchildren, Kyle LaFond, Bella Chiboucas and Milana LaFond; siblings Antoinette Valentino and her husband Rudolph, Sylvia Navaretta and her husband Vincent, Henry Rotundo and his late wife Roz, Dominic Rotundo and his wife Joyce, and many nieces and nephews.
