SCHENECTADY – Louis Petraccione, 85, beloved patriarch to his family, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, April 26, 2021, at home with his family at his side.
Lou was born in Alife, Province of Caserta, Italy on February 11, 1936, a son of Pasquale and Anna Sannullo Petraccione. He immigrated to the United States in 1958, settling with relatives and friends in Schenectady. He worked at Vita Rich on N. Jay Street, the General Electric Company and various plumbing companies. Lou founded Louis Petraccione & Sons Plumbing in 1979. With his self-taught skills, dedication, honesty, and physical hard work, his business expanded and prospered. In 1998, proud to have his sons at his side, Lou entered semi-retirement. His legacy of independence, strength, generosity, love of family, faith and community will be remembered by all who had the honor of knowing Lou.
He was a former member of the Gabriel D’Annunzio Lodge, #321, Sons of Italy and a faithful and devoted communicant, and feasta worker at St. Anthony’s Church.
The Petraccione family extends its heartfelt thanks to the aids, which helped care for Lou.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Crescenzo and Sergio Petraccione
Lou is survived by his beloved wife Filomena Ruggiero Petraccione, who were married on November 23, 1958; devoted children, Anna (Paolo) Califano, Pat Petraccione, Louisa Petraccione and Vincent (Jessica) Petraccione; adoring grandchildren, Paul (Nicole) Califano, Danielle (Chris) Carballeira, Nicole Califano, Louis (Sarah) Petraccione, Vin Petraccione, Natalie Petraccione, Richard Desbiens, Daniel Desbiens and Marissa Desbiens; great-grandchildren, Francesca and Alessia Califano, Eden Carballeira, Patrick Petraccione and Jamari Johnson; siblings, Felicetta D’Amasio, Fernando Petraccione, and Arcadio (Ginette) Petraccione; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.
Services will be held at 9:30am on Saturday from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St., then to St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place, where a Mass of Christian will be celebrated at 10:30am. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 8PM. As per pandemic regulations, masks are required, and social distancing will be observed.
