SCHENECTADY – Louis G. Capobianco, 89, entered into the arms of the Lord on Thursday morning after a brief illness.
Lou was born Luigi Marcello Capobianco, on September 1, 1922, in Schenectady, the son of the late Domenico and Palma Cristini Capobianco. He honorably served in the United States Army during WWII in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre. He was a lifelong resident of the Goosehill neighborhood returning home after the war. Lou worked at the Navy Depot and later as a clerk for the US Postal Service in Schenectady, retiring in 1984 after 40 years of dedicated service. Lou dearly loved his wife and family; he was an exemplary role model as a husband and father. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church, a member of the Holy Name Society and the American Legion Post #21.
The Capobianco family would like to thank the staff of Dutch Manor for their kindness and care shown to Lou during his stay there.
Lou was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Fatato, Josephine Caringi, Augustino Capobianco, Vincent J. Capobianco and Anthony Capobianco.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Philomena DiBiase Capobianco; loving children, Dominick Capobianco and his wife Cindy, of Schenectady, Anne Marie Peltier and her husband Daniel, of Ballston Lake, Christine Kazmierczak and her husband Edmund, of Niskayuna and Catherine Busher and her husband Jonathan, of Scotia; adoring grandchildren, Christopher Capobianco, of Dallas, TX and Brandon Peltier, of Ballston Lake; brother-in-law of, Donald DiBiase and his wife Patricia; Carol Lydia DiBiase and Carol Ann DiBiase; many loving nieces and nephews and friends.
Services will be held on Monday morning at 9 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Sunday from 2 to 5 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lou's memory to the food pantry at St. Anthony's Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY 12305.
