SCHENECTADY – Kathleen Vegezzi-Monti, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Ellis Hospital after a long illness, with her loving children at her side.
Kathleen was born and educated in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Lola (Basile) Vegezzi. Kathleen relocated to Florida and worked at Disney World in the Animal Kingdom, a career that she enjoyed. After returning to Schenectady, Kathleen worked as a lunch monitor for the Colonie School District and then for the State of New York processing fingerprints. Kathleen loved children and later in life, she worked as a self-employed babysitter. She loved the beach, and swimming, She was a TV Land groupie who loved all of the old sitcoms and was also, Patrick Swayze’s biggest fan. Kathleen was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and an annual Feasta worker. She was a kind and generous woman, devoted to her family.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents and her uncle, Elio Basile.
She is survived by her loving children, Maryann Monti, David Monti, and Melony Monti, her aunts, Florinda Basile and Elva Laurange; her kitty, Jasmine; and several special cousins.
Services will be held on Monday at 11 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, then to St. Anthony’s Church where a Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday, from 10 to 11 am.
