Town of Princetown - June Ann Giroux, 86, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born and raised in Waterford, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Blanche Charboneau Desnoyers. June was educated in Catholic schools, which instilled in her a deep Christian faith that guided her life and the way she lovingly raised her family.
After completing her education, June devoted herself to caring for her ailing mother, a testament to her selfless nature. She later worked at DeVoe Orchards in Clifton Park and served as a cafeteria worker in the Shenendehowa School District, where she formed many cherished relationships with students and co-workers over the years.
June was known for her spunky, outspoken personality—you always knew where you stood with her. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and her children often found her funny, delighting in the many anecdotes she shared. Whether it was a witty remark or a cherished family story, June had a way of brightening every moment with her sharp wit and humor.
A lover of celebrations, June found immense joy in holidays and family gatherings, where her warmth and energy were the heart of every occasion.
June leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
June was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Donald Edward Giroux, her brothers, Wilfred Desnoyers and Robert Desnoyers.
She is survived by her devoted family, children; Thomas (Karin) Giroux, Mary A. (Jason) Slingerland, Lee Giroux and Wanda (Joe) Closson; grandchildren, Maria Giroux, Sarah Giroux, Josh (Caitlin) Slish, Jason Slingerland, Aubrey Giroux, Michael Giroux, Joseph Closson and Ryan Closson; her precious great-granchildren, Grayson Steenburg, Amelia Slish and Lucas Slish; sister, Lois Charboneau; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke’s Church, State Street at 11 am . Interment will follow the Mass at 1:30 pm in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 4 to 6 pm at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home.
