Juanita Rivera

SCOTIA – Juanita Rivera, 94, entered peacefully into eternal rest on October 11th, 2026.

Juanita was born on February 14, 1932, in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of the late Monserrate Pagán and Petronila Rivera and was raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico. In 1966, she moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, and in 1970, she relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where she made her home for many years.

Juanita worked as a home attendant in Brooklyn, caring for those who were in need. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cared deeply for her family. Her children and grandchildren were an important part of her life.

In April, Juanita moved to Schenectady to be with her son, Jorge F. Del Valle Rivera and his wife, Mari Del Valle. They lovingly cared for Juanita and supported her during her final months, allowing her to be surrounded by local family members.

She is survived by her loving children, Marta Rivera, Blanca Lizardo, Migdalia Rolon, Rosinin Del Valle Rivera, and Jorge F. Del Valle Rivera and his wife, Mari Del Valle, as well as her grandchildren; Rueben Rivera, Jose “Joey” Rivera, Alfredo “Fredo” Rivera, Sonisa Candelario, Millie Lopez, Benjamin Lopez, Freddy Lizardo and Iris Lizardo, Raquel Ramsey, Raul Rolon, Eduardo Rolon, Berika Salinans, Sadie Salinans, Jonathan Del Valle, Von Del Valle, Antonio Del Valle, and extended family, who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 17th, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM followed by Service from 02:00 PM to 02:30 PM.

Burial will take place in Puerto Rico at a later time as she requested.
