SCHENECTADY – Joseph M. Zingoni, 89, passed away Sunday at the Baptist Health and Nursing Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
Joseph was born and educated in Duluth MN, on May 9, 1921 a son of the late Louis and Dorothy Marino Zingoni. He enlisted in the US Army, honorably serving his country during WWII, stationed in Alaska. He relocated to Schenectady in 1945 and began his 36 year career for the General Electric, working as a welder for 24 years in Bldg 60. He was a faithful communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church
Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Vivian Ferraro Zingoni, whom he married December 10, 1944; loving sons, Joseph Zingoni and his wife JoAnne, of Warwick, RI and Richard A. Zingoni, and his companion Holly Montone, of Princetown; grandchildren, Carissa Butler and Matthew Zingoni and his great-grandchildren, Emily and Benjamin.
The Zingoni family would like to thank Dr. Ringler and the staff of H-3 at Baptist, for the kind and compassionate care of Joseph during his brief stay.
Services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 AM from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, then to St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 PM.
Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, Niskayuna.
In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions may be made in Joseph’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
