Joseph A. "Peppy" Papale, Sr.

Joseph "Peppy" Anthony Papale, Sr., 77, of Cumming, GA, passed away, Thursday, December 25, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Pep was born, June 13, 1937 in Bellona Caserta, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1950. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1958. He was employed as an Albany Fire Fighter for five years before becoming a journeyman of Iron Workers Local 12, retiring after 20 years in 1991.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Bertha Mae Papale. Joe had six children, Joseph Papale, Jr. (Debbie), Anna Marie O'Neill (Tom), Tina Quigley (Paul), Maria Papale, John Papale (Gina), and the late Anthony Papale. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Robert Woods, Jessica Woods, Eriq Papale, Austin Tracey, Paul Quigley, Anthony Papale, Cadie LaCette, Nicholas Quigley, Rachael LaCette, and Thomas O'Neill, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three siblings, Christina Bellona, Maria Rivers, and Jenny Couch, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Antimo and Maria Sorinia Papale; beloved mother, Rosa Esperti Papale, sisters Michelina Dinuzzo and Josephine Fusco.

Pep will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. He enjoyed spending time tending to his garden and fruit trees. He was a devoted fan of his grandchildren's activities, and loved spending time with his newest friend Rocky the Shih Tzu.

Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street, at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home Friday from 9 to 11 am.

The family would like to thank Pep's caregivers at Northside Forsyth Hospital, especially Dr. Amit Dua for his dedication and expert care.
