ROTTERDAM – Joseph Eleuterio Belli, 72, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in the peace of his home, with his loving family at his side, after a long illness.
Joe was born in Schenectady on June 30, 1946 a son of the late Eleuterio and Frances (Ferro) Belli. He attended Linton High and worked as a large machinist at the General Electric, retiring after 36 years of service. Joe was a volunteer fireman for the Carman Fire Department, District #3 for over 30 years, serving as past 2nd Assistant Chief; chairman of the Board of Directors; and honored as a life member. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed his camp on Sacandaga Lake, boating, fishing, and hunting with his loving sons, and friends. . He enjoyed gardening, photography and competitively bowled for many years in the Turbine Bucket Nite, Sportsmen’s Senior, Menagerie and Amity leagues. Joe was a kind and loving man devoted to his family, faith, community, and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 50 years, Betty Mae Hildreth Belli; loving sons, Jeffrey (Terri) Belli, Michael Belli and Frank (Kristen) Belli; two grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Brandon and Natalie; devoted siblings, Ronald (Arlene) Belli and Agatha Belli Novak and the late Dr. Michael Novak; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who he cared so dearly for and considered family.
Services will be held on Saturday morning at 9am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Madeline Sophie Church, at 10am. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Friday from 3 to 7 pm.
