John W. Mayer Jr.

Indian Land, SC – John W. Mayer, Jr., 82, formerly of Schenectady, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021, holding hands with his loving daughter.
John was born in Schenectady, a son of the late Col. John W. and Katherine (Krug) Mayer, Sr. He was a 1956 graduate of Draper High School, honorably served in the US Army, and was employed as a laborer at the General Electric Company, retiring in 1996. Physically strong, quiet by nature John overcame many of his physical challenges in his life; was a kind gentleman, always demonstrating his devotion to his family, and loved spending time with his dogs Sandy, Jake, and Kaylee.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Katherine Geddes and Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Zotta.
John is survived by his daughter Luann Mayer, of SC, and former wife, Dorothy Mysona of SC, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 9:30 am at Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY
