John B. Kwak

December 20, 1942 — February 3, 2021

John B. Kwak, 78, passed away at Albany Medical Center on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
He was born in Schenectady and lived there for all of his life. In his younger days he enjoyed softball and bowling. John loved to golf with his relatives and friends when he could. He also was a very active volunteer in the community and enjoyed his nights as an usher at Proctors Theatre and assisting at the “Things of my very own” charity. He would always have a very upbeat attitude and wanted to make people laugh.
John was a warehouse operator at Calarco Foods Co. out of school and then became a deputy sheriff with Schenectady County. Lieutenant Kwak spent over 25 years in service to the county before retiring.
John was predeceased by his brothers, James and Richard Kwak.
John was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (Pyszkowski) Kwak who he wed on September 21, 1963. He was the devoted father to Bruce (Jean Allen) Kwak and Michael (Eileen) Kwak. John is the loving brother of Cassandra (Nicholas) Kopchick, Susan (Vincent) Loffredo, David (Robin) Kwak, Eugene (Anita) Kwak, Celeste Kwak, Alice Gilroy and Tracy (Russell) Oppelt. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 12 noon from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St, Schenectady, followed by a Mass at 1:00p.m. at Saint Luke’s Church, State Street, Schenectady. Interment will be in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Calling hours will be Thurs from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the “Things of my very own” charity, 249 Green St, Schenectady, NY 12305 in memory of John B. Kwak.
