SCHENECTADY – Joe Cacciolfi, 64, a lifelong resident of the Stockade, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at his residence.
Joe was born an on March 10, 1952 the son of the late Paul Joseph and Gemma (Gizzi) Cacciolfi. He was a graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School, class of 1970.
Joe worked for Schatz Stationery for over 15years; before opening Koeing Art Emporium in Colonie Center. He later was employed as a District Manager with the Daily Gazette and finished his working career with Balltown Imaging, retiring in 2011.
Joe was an avid horse racing fan. He was an owner, breeder and managing partner of Our Eyes Wide Open Stable. His knowledge of horse racing rivaled anyone's and many considered him the best handicapper around. Joe bowled almost from the time he could walk. He bowled in many leagues in the area and in 1992 and 1995 he was a member of the bowling team that won the City League Championship.
Joe loved the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, but one of his proudest moments came when he carried the Olympic Torch in 1996. His love of all sports can be seen in his large collection of sports memorabilia which fills his home.
Joe will truly be missed by all his friends, because you knew when Joe was in the room with his deep voice, sense of humor and most of all his singing. Joe loved to sing to the oldies.
He was predeceased by his loving parents.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Maryanne Renus; several cousins; brothers and sisters-in-law and dear friends.
Services will be held on Sunday, at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St., at 5 pm With Br. Ronald McClosky, PB, officiating. Interment will be held in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm.
