SCHENECTADY – Janis A. Hopkins, 79, entered into eternal rest suddenly at home on Saturday, July 3, 2021, after being stricken.
Janis was born in Piercefield, NY on October 5, 1941, a daughter of the late Ulys and Kathryn Norman Nicklaw. She attended Henry Ellers School and was a 1959 graduate of Schalmont High School. Janis worked at Bradley’s from 1979 until 1995 and retired from CDPHP in 2010. She was a kind and loving woman, devoted to her family, friends, and her faith.
She was predeceased by her sister, Sally Margaret Cotton.
Janis is survived by her loving family; children, Lynn Van Buren, Guy (Gina) Gordon, Keith (Corinna) Gordon, and Brian (Nicolina) Gordon; sisters, Rose Marie Alexander and Laurie (Ricky) Nicklaw; an aunt, Kathleen Nugent; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at 9 am on Wednesday from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, and then to St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janis’ memory to St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St, Schenectady, NY.
