ROTTERDAM - James Schwind, Jr. of Schenectady passed away on October 30th, 2023. Jim was born on January 30, 1938, to his late parents, James Sr. and Mary Schwind. He graduated from Philip Schuyler HS and received an AAS degree in Accounting from SCCC. Jim enjoyed baseball, softball, and bowling and traveling to destinations like Las Vegas, Florida, Martha’s Vineyards, Atlantic City, Niagara Falls, Hawaii, and Canada. Jim served two years in the U.S. Army and four years in the Reserves prior to a long career(38 years)working for Champion Builders and Georgia Pacific. Jim was happily married to the love of his life, his wife Carmella (Giagiacumo- Radliff) for 35 years.
Besides Jim’s parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carmella, on October 5, 2020, and his sister Joan Pomakoy.
Jim is survived by his brother, Joe (Kathy) Schwind. His step-children, who were like his own; Michele “Mickie”(Mike) Zotta, Craig (Elsa) Radliff, and Penny Radliff. His grandchildren: Michael (Angela) Zotta, Nicholas Zotta, Gregory (Fiorella) Zotta, Casey Gunning, Christopher Radliff, Marina McCoy and James McCoy. His great-grandchildren: Mikayla Lorraine Zotta, Giuliana Carmella and Michael Gaetano Zotta, Evie Lynn Gunning, and Lyla Rojas Zotta. Nieces: Mary (Bob and daughter Chloe) Durocher, Barbara Estes, Janet Schwind Murray (children Joseph and Cameron Murray and Casey Treon) Michele Sanford (children, Ella-Audra and husband Kevin). Nephew: Brian (Lisa and sons Brandon and Logan) Barde. Jim loved all his nieces and nephews on Carmella’s side; Rachel, Roy, Joe, Marcia, Ace, Guy, Georgia, Robin, Clay, Debbie, Sherry, Eric, Angel, Jim, Meg, Chip, and Denise.
Calling hours will be held Friday, November 3rd, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam, NY. Church service at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Princetown Road, Rotterdam, NY. Burial at St. Cyril Cemetery, Rotterdam, NY.
