GLENVILLE – Harold Groves, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Harold was born and educated in Schenectady, a son of the late Harold and Dorothy Hyson, Groves, Sr. He worked as a truck driver for BFI Industries, retiring after 31 years of service. Harold enjoyed bowling, hunting, camping, family reunions and gardening. He was a member of the Schenectady Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley O'Bey Groves; loving children: Charles and Sheir, Ralph and Sharon, Kevin and Sue, Dennis and Bianca and Kathy; twenty three grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Walter Groves, John and Diane Parker and Betty and George Luse; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 am at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets with the Rev. Peter JB Carman, Pastor of Emmanuel-Friedens Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Wednesday morning from 8 to 10 am.
