SCHENECTADY – On Palm Sunday, Gloria A. Vergine, 86, now sits at the Table of the Lord.
Gloria was born on October 20, 1926 in Saratoga Springs, a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Isgro Manilla. She moved to Schenectady with her family as a young girl. She worked for the General Electric Company during WWII and later for Ellis Hospital. Gloria was a devoted wife and mother, taking care of the needs of her family.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter 'Scrappy' Vergine and a brother Albert Manilla.
Gloria is survived by her loving sons Peter Vergine and his wife JoAnne and Dennis Vergine and his wife Pamela, all of Ballston Spa; grandchildren, Lisa Glantiz and her companion Michael Pezi, Daniel Vergine and his companion Becca Parker, Stephen and his wife Krista Vergine, Denise Rickard and her companion Ken Wolf, JoAnn Vergine, Jay Mackin and his wife Kelly, Jeremy Mackin and Jamie and his wife Tina Mackin; great grandchildren, Paul Rickard, Alex Vergine, Angelo Pezi, Ava Vergine, Savannah March, Gabby March, Jake Wolf, Rusty Wolf, Kasey Crakat, Allie Mackin, Kayla Baker, Kaitlyn Hernandez, Riley Mackin, Jamie Mackin, Kayleigh Mackin, Ryan Mackin; and a great-great granddaughter Aubrey Baker; Sister of Dolores Petrozzi of Rutland, VT; dear family friend, John Mackin, many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Services will be held on Thursday at 10AM from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street, and then to St Anthony Church, Seward Place, where the Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 8 to 10AM.
