SCHENECTADY – Gloria Alberta Teabout McLean- Perryman, 94, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Barnwell Nursing Service after a valiant battle with Covid-19.
Gloria was born in Amsterdam, a daughter of the late Douglas and Margaret (Ellis) Teabout. She was a graduate of Wilbur Lynch High School attended Spenser Business Institute and Hudson Valley Community College. Gloria married her husband Charles McLean, they celebrated thirty-three years of love and family, until his passing. During this time they raised three children. Together, they started the Socialites Club, The Sincerity Club, and the first African American bowling league, 20th Century more than five decades ago; they were also members of the Good Sams Camping Club. She was admitted to the Bowlers Hall of Fame.
Gloria converted from the Episcopal faith to the Catholic Church. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church until its closure and then celebrated her faith at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of which she was a member for over 60 years. Mom "Gloria" always told us to put something away for a rainy day; she was an incredibly talented seamstress, breaking out multiple sewing machines one summer; she invited our girlfriends over and she taught us to sew. She was kind, gracious and loving. Gloria enjoyed 20 wonderful years with her second husband Horace Perryman until his passing.
Gloria is survived by three children, Gail Denise McLean, Charles John McLean and Andrew McLean; her sister, Grace Thompson, of NJ; six grandchildren, devoted niece’s, nephew’s and three generations of cousins.
Gloria was laid to rest at 9:30 am on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
