SCHENECTADY – Giuseppe Almaviva, 81, entered into eternal life on Friday, at the Baptist Retirement Home, surrounded by his loving family.
Giuseppe was born the son of Antonio and Antoinetta Caruso Almaviva in Caiazzo, Province of Caserta, Italy. He served in the Italian Army. Giuseppe immigrated to America, arriving on August 16, 1964. He was employed at the General Electric Company as a machinist for 29 years, retiring in 1991. For many years, Guiseppe, together with his wife, spent many hours by helping out and maintaining St. Anthony's School. He was a wonderful provider for his family, passing on his strong work ethics, Italian culture and his faith. Giuseppe was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, and an annual festa worker.
He is survived by his beloved wife Maddalena Mastroianni Almaviva, whom he married on October 20, 1958; his devoted sons, Antonio and his wife Susan Almaviva, of Clifton Park and John and his wife Lori Almaviva, of Mohawk, NY; loving grandchildren, Michael, David, Olivia and twins Gianna and Giovanni Almaviva; a sister, Maria Almaviva, of Caiazzo, Italy and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was predeceased by his brother Guido Almaviva.
Services will be held at 10am on Tuesday from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 11am. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday from 4:30 to 7 pm.
