Gere H. Brostrand

SCHENECTADY – Gere Brostrand, 78, passed peacefully into eternal life on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Gere was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Carl and Lois Harding Brostrand.

She retired from Sylvestri Dry Cleaners, in Albany, after many years of service.

Gere was predeceased by her parents, her beloved son, Randy Myers; cherished grandson, Michael VanBuren; her daughter-in-law, Candace Myers; the father of her children and lifelong friend, Charles Myers

She is survived by her loving and devoted family; especially her children, Douglas Myers, Tami VanBuren; grandchildren, Jason Myers, Shane Myers and his wife Trish, Annabelle Chrysler, Leah DiScipio and her husband Daniel; son-in-law, Michael VanBuren, Sr.; great-grandchildren, Elody Myers and Lorenzo DiScipio; sisters, Lois Fidinger and Joan Sutherland; treasured companions in friendship, Robin and Sherry; as well several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Singh, and Kara from Hospice for their compassionate care and support. Their kindness, comfort, and empathy not only meant so much to Gere, but also provided strength and reassurance to the entire family during a difficult time.

Gere will be buried beside her grandson Michael in a private Graveside Service in Memory Garden.
