SCHENECTADY – Frank Jeffes, 90, entered Eternal Life on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, with his family at his side.
Frank was born in Schenectady on July 11, 1932, the son of Millard and Louise Rossi Jeffes, Sr. He attended local schools and enlisted in the US Air Force, honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict with the 824th Air Police Squadron. He also served his term of duty with the109th Air National Guard. Frank worked for several years with the New York State Board of Elections in Albany. He spent seven years living and working on the Ferris Groves in Miami. Upon his return, he was employed as a member of the Labors Local #157, retiring after 50 years of service. Frank also operated the House of ’76 Gift Shop on Crane Street. Frank took his civic duties seriously and served in leadership positions on numerous veterans and civic organizations, including; a founding member of the WWII Museum in Washington, D.C., a 33-year member and long-standing Commander of the American Legion Post 21, a member of the VFW Post 1895, Veterans of WWII Club, Polish American Veterans Club, Rotterdam Elks, Pack and Cub Master of the Boy Scouts of America and a longtime supporter and volunteer at Proctors, where he was voted as “Volunteer of the Year”. Frank was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, a passion he inherited from his father, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the beauty of Central Park, all of its activities and especially the Rose Garden, where he purchased stepping stones honoring members of his family. He was a life member of over 40 years at the Guan Ho Ha Rod & Gun Club and the Iroquois Rod and Gun Club and a faithful communicant of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish. Frank lived a wonderfully full life; he was a man of great strength, strong moral convictions, devoted to his family, and had an enduring faith in God.
Frank was predeceased by his siblings, Millard Jeffes, Jr. and Charlotte Mattison.
He is survived by and was blessed to share more than 55 years with his beloved wife, Leona Ashline Jeffes; his children, Robert P. (Cassandra) Jeffes and Roberta F. Jeffes; grandchildren, Amanda, Brendan, Joshua, and Jarrod Jeffes and a great-granddaughter, Layla Daisy Jeffes.
Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral, 501 Union Street. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 4 to 6 pm.
