SCHENECTADY – Frances D. Sorrentino Maioriello, 98, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017.
Frances was born in Naples, Italy on December 6, 1918 a daughter of the late Ralph and Giovannina (Russo) Sorrentino. She was a 1939 graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School and worked for the General Electric Company and the Carl Company, retiring in 1989. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, Frances had a God given gift of constant nurturing, love and faith. She was treasured gift to all that knew her. Frances was a lifetime communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
Frances was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph A. Maioriello, whom she married on October 19, 1941 and until his death on May 25, 1970; siblings, Sarah Daddario, Clara Cartwright and Nicholas Sorrentino.
She is survived by her loving children, Ralph Maioriello, of Burnt Hills, Barbara (Jim) Pelletier, of Lake Placid, FL, Janice (Jack) Sleasman, of Jacksonville, FL ; brother, Frank Sorrentino, of Mechanicsville, VA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sorrentino, of Schenectady, nine adoring grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; several nieces and nephews.
The Maioriello family is eternally grateful to the staff at the Glendale Home, especially on the Pine Plains Unit, for the exemplary care, compassion and dignity extended to Frances.
Services will be held on Friday at 9 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St., then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 10am Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 to 6 pm.
